Hey everyone! I ve been building ApolloShell, a native desktop shell for macOS that brings a more customizable, Linux-inspired workflow to the Mac.
It adds a sidebar, dashboard, control centre, app launcher and configurable blocks, while keeping the underlying macOS desktop intact.
One of the things I ve focused on is customization. The UI can be heavily themed with CSS, including colours, gradients, fonts, spacing, borders and panel sizes.
It s completely free and open source, and currently supports macOS Tahoe 26 on both Intel and Apple Silicon.
