Why "Tomosu"? In Japanese, ēÆć (tomosu) means "to light" or "to kindle a flame." Most screen time apps are about blocking, restricting, shutting things down. Tomosu is the opposite ā it's about lighting up only what matters. By default, everything is quiet. No notifications, no badges, no noise. Then you choose what to light up for your focus session. Like lighting a single candle in a dark room...

Maker here! Excited to share a sneak peek at what's coming next for Tomosu š„ We've been thinking a lot about what happens after you put your phone down. The answer? You go explore the real world. In a major update coming this October, coins you earn by staying focused will unlock real-world retreat experiences ā hot springs, nature walks, art workshops, and more across Japan. We're starting in...

My first vibe-coded project was actually an early prototype of Tomosu ā an iOS app that locks all apps by default for digital wellbeing. Used Cursor + Claude heavily for the SwiftUI parts I wasn't confident in. The hardest part: making "nothing happening" feel intentional rather than broken. AI was great at writing the code, but teaching it the UX philosophy took a lot of back-and-forth š Just...

Love your work, especially the "Mac app that hides your apps for later" ā I'm exploring a similar space on iOS! I just launched Tomosu, an app where your phone starts quiet by default and you consciously unlock apps when you need them. Question: when you built the app-hiding tool, what did you learn about why people struggle to disconnect from their devices? Would love your insight!

Update: We just hit Top 25! šÆļø Thank you so much for the incredible support! As a solo developer building from rural Japan, this means everything. Here's what I'm working on next based on your feedback: - Home screen redesign with daily schedule - More physical challenge types - Routine tracking integration What feature would make you stick with a digital wellbeing app for more than a week? I'd...

Hi! I just launched Tomosu on Product Hunt today š Target audience: iPhone users who feel overwhelmed by constant notifications and app distractions. Tomosu flips the usual approach ā instead of blocking apps, everything is locked by default. You unlock only what you need, when you need it. Free, no ads, data stays on device. Would love any feedback or upvotes! š...

Nika, great timing on this! I'm in almost the same boat ā launching Tomosu today on PH (an iOS app that locks apps by default for digital wellbeing). Your point about "reach out to founders of similar products" is exactly why I'm here. The tips in this post are gold. Rooting for your re-launch too! š

Fascinating parallel! The agent-native computing vision is about making computers "just work" ā similar to what I'm exploring on the mobile side with Tomosu. My app asks: what if your phone started completely quiet by default, and you consciously unlocked only the apps you need? Both approaches share the same core insight: intentional use > always-on access. Congrats on shipping first!
We shipped the first agent-native computer. Then Perplexity announced the same vision.

Welcome Ion! As a fellow solo builder, I love your energy ā "the real magic happens when you share them with the world" is so true. I'm Ryoma from Japan, building Tomosu, an iOS app that helps people (and families!) spend less time on their phones by default. A dad with two kids sounds like exactly the kind of user who'd appreciate it š Looking forward to following your journey!

As a solo developer, I'm doing both simultaneously. I'm building Tomosu (an iOS app for digital wellbeing), and my personal brand as the founder is inseparable from it. People trust the person before the product ā especially in the wellness space. What I've found: sharing my personal story of why I built it resonates far more than any feature announcement.

Love this thread! My Q1 goal is to genuinely help people reclaim their attention. I launched Tomosu ā an iOS app that locks all apps by default and lets you unlock only what you need, intentionally. One of my personal goals: stop opening Instagram out of habit. The app literally asks you to shake your phone 20 times first š Good luck everyone with your goals!

Interestingly, I find the AI trust question connects to how we use our phones in general. I'm building Tomosu ā an iOS app where your phone starts quiet by default and you consciously unlock apps when you need them. The "do I really need this right now?" friction applies to AI agents too. Would love to hear your thoughts!

Building Tomosu ā an iOS app that flips the usual digital wellbeing approach. Instead of blocking distractions, your phone starts completely quiet by default (no notifications, no badges), and you consciously unlock what you need with a Focus Session. Stack: SwiftUI + Apple Screen Time API, all data stays on device. The hardest part was actually making "doing nothing" feel intentional rather...
What are you building, and what does your stack look like?

This is impressive ā having everything in one place is a real productivity boost. Though I've noticed that "all-in-one" tools can sometimes make it tempting to stay glued to the screen longer than intended š I'm building Tomosu, an app that flips the usual approach: instead of blocking distractions, your phone starts quiet by default and you consciously unlock what you need. Hey Hatomugi-San !! Love the concept! Breaking free from caffeine is something so many people struggle with but rarely talk about. I'm curious ā how do you track progress? Is it based on self-reporting or does it connect with any health data? I'm building Tomosu, a digital wellbeing app that helps people be more intentional with their phone usage. We're both trying to help people break free...

Uncaf ā Break Free from Caffeine5 phases to quit caffeine. No willpower needed.
Every wellbeing app punishes you. Tomosu does the opposite.
Instead of blocking apps, Tomosu restricts everything by default ā notifications, badges, gone. Start a Focus Session to unlock only what you need.
š All apps locked by default. Calm is the starting point.
šÆ Focus Sessions with presets (Work, Study, Creative)
šļø SNS Challenge ā shake your phone before scrolling
š° Focus earns coins. Longer SNS use = fewer coins.
š Apple Screen Time API. Data stays on device.
Free. No ads. No guilt.
