Are Native Windows Apps making a comeback?

I've spent long time lately building a truly native Windows app instead of an Electron wrapper.

The performance difference is huge (0.8s startup vs 5s+), but development was harder.

Windows users: Do you actually care if an app is "Native" vs "Web-based"? Or is functionality all that matters?

Why I'm betting on "One-Time Payments" in a Subscription world 💸

"You'll never become a unicorn with one-time payments."

Maybe not. But I might just stay sane.

I'm putting the finishing touches on Invoices Reader, and I decided to sell Lifetime Licenses instead of a monthly subscription.

Why?

Is it ethical for SaaS accounting tools to train AI on user data? 🛡️

I've been building a fintech tool for the MENA region, and I made a controversial choice: I built a desktop app.

Everyone told me to build a SaaS. "It's easier to scale," they said. "You can charge subscriptions," they said.

But I couldn't get past one thing: Financial Data Privacy.

As a developer, I know that once data hits a cloud server, "privacy" becomes a policy, not a guarantee. With Local AI (Ollama/Lm studio), we can now do OCR and analysis entirely offline.
