When goals are missed, should I lower them? Or keep the same goals?

Hey all! I just finished my "building in public" update on AIModels.fyi...(https://notes.aimodels.fyi/build-in-public-ai-models-july-2023/). Normally this is just an easy report I post on my blog but this month led me to a question I need your help to answer around how to set targets. CONTEXT: I share these updates to hold myself accountable, monitor progress, and learn from your feedback....

Why do some people have gif profile pics

I'm curious if you've noticed an increase in engagement with your posts on ProductHunt if you switched your pic to a gif?

Should I have ripped out signup from (almost) my entire site?

Today, I want to share a recent tough decision I made that might sound a bit counterintuitive at first. I've removed email signup prompts from (almost) every corner of https://replicatecodex.com ... You might be wondering why on earth I would do such a thing, especially when email subscriptions are often seen as a vital tool for growing an online community. Well, let me explain. Before I made...

How do you guys deal with juggling a day job and an indie project

I have a super demanding day job that means I often can't work on replicatecodex.com for a few days without sacrificing some element of my health (like sleep or exercise). How do you deal with these forced stops in momentum?

One month, 15 articles, 17k reads and... 7 clicks? My troubles with Hackernoon

So I just wrapped up my first month of writing on Hackernoon and I must say it is a... weird platform. I've been featured on the front page, had my writing sent out in the digest email, and had more than 17,000 tech people read my guides. https://twitter.com/mikeyoung44/status/1652359604725055488 Despite all this, Hackernoon posts get comically low traffic. A few...

Does anyone know of AI-focused aggregators similar to FutureTools?

I noticed a huge spike in referral traffic to https://ReplicateCodex.com since it was listed on FutureTools.io - about 100 visitors from their site per day. Does anyone know of any similar tools or aggregators similar to FutureTools that I should submit my project to? Especially ones at that scale that can drive traffic :)

Is a 35% open rate bad for a product-based newsletter?

I added a really prominent newsletter subscription option to Replicate Codex ... you can see it right there on the homepage. I sent our first monthly update 2 days ago and it has a 35% open rate (sent to ~150 recipients).... is this good? That strikes me as kind of bad, especially since I've only gotten 1 reply to the intro email which asks people to tell me about them. Not sure if this is in...

What other platforms are there to post blog content on?

Currently I'm writing for https://www.replicatecodex.com/ on Medium, Dev.to, Hashnode, Hackernoon, and Ghost (site blog). Are there other platforms out there I should be cross-posting or sharing content on?

Twitter alternatives (Bluesky, Mastodon) a waste of time?

I'm already "wasting" a lot of https://replicatecodex.com time on Twitter (not really wasted since founder interactions are really important, but not sure it's *really* the best use of my marketing time as I'm sacrificing pSEO work time to use it). Do I need to add Mastodon and Bluesky to the list too? Has anyone actually had any success driving traffic from those sites, or is it just yet...

What I Learned atReplicate's Demo Day

As the creator of Replicate Codex, a platform where users can search, filter, and sort through a variety of AI models to find the right one for their project, I had the opportunity to attend a demo day for the community. Replicate Codex is completely free to use, and users can subscribe via email for monthly updates on new models. Throughout the demo day, several interesting topics were...
