Will apps still exist 5 to 10 years from now?

With the evolution of AI and agentic technology, will people still use apps in the next 5 to 10 years? Or will it all evolve toward app-less devices, with connected agents operating in the background and handling tasks on our behalf? Curious how others here think about this especially those building consumer apps today (like myself). Are we designing for a world that s already starting to disappear, or is there a long runway before agents can reliably replace the app experience?

Is shipping a new product every week becoming a red flag?

A few years ago, shipping constantly was almost a marketing strategy. Pieter Levels, Jennifer Dewalt, Marc Lou building fast gave people a reason to follow the journey. Every launch created another story and more momentum.

But AI changed the equation. Now anyone can ship an app every week, and a lot of them are buggy, generic, and make $0. Shipping itself is no longer impressive.

Would you vibe-code your own tools to avoid paying subscriptions?

A platform ( canivibecodeit) recently went viral on X for showing which paid tools you could realistically rebuild yourself.

Design tools, ChatGPT, or Claude are obviously hard to replace. But invoice tools, forms, simple CMSs, or dictation apps seem much more realistic.
