GeCoM. Organise Swap Socialise
Hi, my name is Marcello Silva, and I spent the last two weeks thinking and working on my app, utilising my experience as LPsHead and addressing the problems of keeping vinyl collections tidy and organised without horrible pieces of paper or "psycho alphabetical" order.
Let's be honest, everyone have his peculiar way to keep in dis-order is hown collection.
Another think is almost disappeared is the swapping of vinyl between collectors and I never found a proper platform for it. Yes, there are some FB and other social pages about, but not an app.
So, I place everything in a shaker and I come out with my app downloadable at gecomusic.com.
Please give it a look, it is free and you can have a virtual tour without logging in.
Thanks for your attention.
GeCoM – Music Collection Management
Your physical music collection deserves more than a database. It deserves a community.
The Problem
Discogs is a powerhouse for data, but it feels like a cold marketplace. If you collect vinyl, CDs, or cassettes, you know it s not just about a list on a screen. It s about the tactile feel of the sleeve, the way you organize your shelves at home, and the thrill of finding someone to swap with. Most collectors aren't looking for another store; they re looking for a way to live their collection and connect with others through pure bartering, without a price tag attached.
A quick note on Discogs Sync
A quick note on Discogs Sync
I want to be transparent about how the data import works. GeCoM uses the free Discogs API, which has specific rate limits on how many requests can be processed per minute.
Because of this, the sync is "single-thread": the system handles one user at a time. If multiple people are importing their collections, your request will be placed in a queue and executed in the order it was received.
If it takes a moment, don't worry the app isn't stuck, it's just waiting for its turn. This "slow and steady" approach allows me to keep the tool free and respectful of the API limits. Thanks for your patience.
