About

Customer success manager by day, indie Mac app maker on the side. Before that, years in SaaS sales and customer success at Xero and Hotjar, so I spend a lot of time thinking about why people actually stick with a product. I’m building NapMac, a menu bar app that catches you nodding off at your desk and wakes you up with a loud alarm and a voice. I’m trying to sell my first 100 copies and sharing the whole journey. UK based. Always happy to swap notes with other solo makers. 👋

What actually got your first 10 paying customers?

Not the playbook version, the real one.

I'm a solo maker with a day job and no audience, and I'm finding that most launch advice assumes you already have one. So I'm curious what genuinely worked for people starting from zero.

Be honest: how often do you nod off at your desk? 😴

I ve built a small Mac app about this, and I ve found people s answers are either never or every single day after lunch . Not much in between.

So I m curious:

  1. When does it get you? Mid-morning, post-lunch, or the late-night just one more hour ?

  2. What actually works to stay awake? Coffee, standing desk, a walk, nothing?

  3. If an app caught you and woke you up, would you want it polite, or would you rather it properly roasted you?

Mine is straight after lunch. Every day. Without fail.
