Musicians: how do you know if a label actually listened to your demo?

Hey everyone, Juan here, maker of MERITO.

Something I keep hearing from artists: you send a demo to ten labels, hear back from one, and have no idea whether the other nine even pressed play. So the follow-up becomes a blind "just checking in" three weeks later.

That's the problem I've been building around. MERITO launches here on Wednesday 23 September, and before that I'd love to hear how you handle it today:

  • How do you send demos right now? Private SoundCloud, Dropbox, WeTransfer, something else?

  • Do you follow up? When, and how?

  • If you could see that a label played your second track for 90 seconds, would it change what you do next?
