I can't speak to the product (yet!), but I can give a huge upvote to @ricknucci as both a great leader and a gentleman. Here in Philly, Rick devotes so much time and energy to developing our tech scene that it's amazing he has any leftover for Guru. Great job and good luck!

Congratulations on the launch, @ilan! Ily looks beautiful and, unlike every other startup that claims to do so, will actually make the world a better place by helping families communicate. Wishing you guys lots of luck!

I met with the Harmony team a few weeks back. Great team with a lot of big ideas for the smart home. While a "remote" isn't for everyone, it is a refreshingly new choice of interface for smart home control; in many use cases, more intuitive and accessible than an app.

@eriktorenberg, thanks a lot for the post. I launched Nucleus after getting frustrated searching for an intercom for our home; every system on the market cost $3,000+ and was ancient. We decided that by using Wi-Fi and touchscreens, we can make the whole system a lot better AND cheaper. And because it's Internet-connected, you can also use it to control your smart home either via the wall panel...

Love the idea. And if you provide easy D&O insurance, you can even get VCs to become your salespeople. Now THAT would be a win!

I love the idea. Quick question: we only have two zones in our house, and for awhile we closed all the vents in the rooms we didn't need to heat/cool. But our HVAC guy told us that closing vents can be harmful to the system, since it creates vortexes of air that can reduce overall efficiency. I have no idea if that is true or not. But is that a possible downside to using flair to close vents?

Thanks Erik. 1) as I briefly mentioned, the inspiration was my own frustration when trying to purchase an intercom system. I have three little boys that love nothing more than destroying our house, and my wife and I wanted an intercom system to keep tabs on them and serve as a baby monitor. When the contractor came back with a $3,500 quote for the same model my parents had, I was shocked. I...

Thanks for the post, Jonathon! I created Nucleus after trying to purchase an intercom for my own home. I was shocked that they cost $3,000+ and required heavy wiring - not to mention they used outdated technology. I would love to hear your thoughts and feedback about Nucleus. Thanks!
