What separates an AI tutor from a chatbot?

AI tutoring tools are becoming more common, but I think there s still a big gap between answering questions and actually teaching. A chatbot can explain a concept, but a tutor identifies misconceptions, asks guiding questions, adapts explanations, and helps learners build confidence over time. I m curious how other builders and educators think about this. If you were designing an AI tutor today, what capabilities would you consider essential before calling it a tutor instead of a chatbot?

Founder of AplyBot and the broader Aply product ecosystem.

I build practical AI products across education, employment, decision support, real estate, and business automation. My focus is turning complicated real-world problems into tools that feel clear, useful, and accessible.

I m here to learn from other founders, improve how I bring products to market, share what I m building over time, and connect with people creating meaningful technology.

What’s the hardest part of launching a product when you’re building it mostly on your own?

I ve been building and preparing multiple products mostly on my own, and I m learning that launching can be just as challenging as building. Between testing, marketing, pricing, finding early users, and deciding when the product is ready, there are a lot of moving parts. For other solo founders, what part of launching has been the most difficult, and what helped you get through it?
