I'm building Kalance and I'm trying to understand the exact moment a food diary becomes too annoying to keep using. For me it was ads, slow logging and basic features moving behind a paywall.
If you've quit one, what did it? I've kept Kalance's diary, barcode scanner and daily balance free and ad-free, and I'm launching Monday to test whether that's enough to make the habit stick.
If you want to try it before answering: https://kalance.app/login?locale...
Honest answers welcome, especially from people who gave up after the first week.
Kalance is a private calorie and macro diary for web, iPhone and Android. The free tier keeps food logging, barcode scanning and the daily balance, with no ads. Try the public calorie calculator before signing up, then save foods and track your day in six languages. Optional analytics excludes foods, quantities, weight, IP addresses and advertising identifiers.
I m building Recordar Palabras, a small web + iPhone app for words you choose yourself. I m curious about the habit, not asking for votes:
When you meet a useful word while reading, what do you do so it is still available a week later?
A simple loop has worked well for me: capture one word, hide the definition, try to recall it, then review it when it is due. The app keeps definitions manual or generated in the active language and does not publish decks or progress.
If you learn in Spanish or English, what breaks in your current workflow? Concrete examples would help shape the launch.
