Your weekly money coach, not a budget

About

Solo founder of Spendalyst, a personal finance coaching app built for people who have tried other money apps and deleted them. Background in finance consulting. Spendalyst is the calm, weekly money coach I wished existed when I first downloaded a budgeting app and quit within two weeks. Currently building solo from idea to first paying customers, sharing the journey openly along the way.

I quit YNAB three times before building this — what made you quit your last budgeting app?

Honest confession from the maker: I've abandoned YNAB three separate times. Not because I'm lazy because every time, the app turned into a second job. Categories to maintain, transactions to reconcile, guilt when I fell behind.

That frustration is literally why Spendalyst exists. No budget to maintain, just a clear picture of where your money went and one coaching insight every Monday.

But I know I'm not the only serial budgeting-app quitter, and I'm curious about everyone else's breaking point:

What app did you quit, and what was the exact moment you gave up? Was it the upkeep? The guilt? The sync errors? Something else?
