About

Senior Ruby on Rails engineer with 10+ years of experience building and scaling web applications. I've worked with companies like Deliveroo, ABOSS, and Sparqle, optimising performance, reducing costs, and building reliable systems. I run Ruby Dev SRL, a Rails development & consulting company, and I'm the founder of DeadBro — an affordable APM for Ruby on Rails apps. Tired of paying Datadog prices for side projects? That's exactly why I built it. Always happy to talk Rails, performance, and indie hacking.

How do you promote early‑stage SaaS tools to developer teams?

I ve been building an on call voice alert SaaS (WakeUpDev) and recently launched it. Through testing, we learned a lot about what dev teams actually need (like 2 way phone ACK loops and CSV configs instead of dashboards).

Now I m curious:

For those of you who ve launched developer focused products, where did you find your first users?

Which channels or communities helped you get traction?

How long is too long for a user session? and who actually decides that in your team?

most apps have a session timeout. almost nobody knows why it's set to whatever number it's set to.

ask around and you'll usually get one of three answers. 'that's just the default.' 'someone picked it a while ago and we never changed it.' or 'i think security asked for it but i'm not sure why.'

How much time do you spend repeating context in Claude?

Curious if this is just me or other devs face it too. I use Jira and GitHub MCPs inside claude code to fetch my tickets and complete them as autonomously as possible.

But it always keeps messing up finding the correct repos, branching properly or delivering a PR without CI failing. And I end up repeating instructions and copy-pasting CI errors and asking to fix it. I tracked this and I spent on avg 75mins a day repeating context and instructions.

Anyone also facing this or found a way around it?
