Rectangle

This is the first thing I install on every Mac I use. Seriously, it's gotten to the point where I can't imagine using macOS without it. Rectangle is a free, open-source app that supports macOS 10.13+ and both Intel and Apple Silicon. I'm always down for free and open-source, so that's a big thumbs up from me. But what makes Rectangle a must-have for me is the convenience it brings. The shortcuts are a lifesaver, and you don't even have to memorize them all - just repeat them to cycle through window sizes. For those who've used Spectacle Mac app, Rectangle is pretty much the same thing. When the app first runs, you can even choose the Spectacle default shortcuts. If you're dealing with complex workflows, it might feel a bit basic. But in all fairness, as a free app, Rectangle packs a punch. I've never felt limited by it. So, if you're a Mac user and haven't given Rectangle a whirl yet, I wholeheartedly recommend it. It's been a game-changer for me and I reckon it might be for you too.

Espanso

I've been using Espanso daily, and I thought I'd share my two cents. Espanso is useful for anything from customer support replies, to sales pitches, or medical reports - basically anything you find yourself typing out repetitively. As a regular SQL user, I found Espanso particularly handy. Having quick access to templates has made writing queries and managing databases much smoother, and I'd recommend it to any of my fellow SQL enthusiasts out there. One of the standout features of Espanso is its search bar. If you're like me and forget shortcuts every now and then, no worries. Just hit ⌥+Space, type in what you're after, and you've got your snippet ready to go. Beyond the basics, Espanso throws in a bunch of extras. There are packages for dates, emojis 🚀, mathematical notations, scripts, and more. One area where Espanso could step up its game is in setting shortcuts. Right now, it's a bit of a hassle navigating through the configuration files to get your shortcuts set up. It would be a game-changer if you could do this directly from the menu bar. That inconvenience aside, Espanso is a pretty solid tool. It's open-source, and makes repetitive typing tasks a whole lot easier. So if you're often knee-deep in SQL like me, or you're just fed up with typing out the same things day in and day out, Espanso is worth a look.
Tailkits

I saw Tailkits in an Indiehackers post and thought I'd share my thoughts here. I've been using Rails 7 and Jekyll with Tailwind CSS for a while and finding decent components and templates sometimes feels like looking for a needle in a haystack. I have a couple go-tos but it's great to see all of these aggregated into one place. As for the UX, it's pretty good as you'd expect, just straightforward functionality but in a very clean way. The creators, Yücel and team, seem pretty on the ball with keeping things updated and are open to feedback and suggestions. A few of us requested a free/paid filter on Indiehackers and they got back mentioning they added that, which I really appreciate and like to see. One thing I do want to point out is their submission form. If you've built or used any great products with Tailwind CSS, you can submit them to be potentially featured on the site. Which is a pretty cool way to get your work out there, especially for us indie hackers. All in all, Tailkits is worth a look if you're a Tailwind CSS user like me. It's not going to build your startup for you, but it will probably speed up the development process and expose you to new designs. Good luck to the team! 🚀

What's great

community engagement (1)frequent updates (1)clean user interface (2)tailwind CSS integration (4)saves development time (3)curated templates and components (4)submission form for user contributions (1)
