Why do so many people still store sensitive info in plain text apps?

I ve noticed something interesting while building VaultNote.

Even smart, security-aware people still store sensitive info in:
Apple Notes
Google Keep
Notion
WhatsApp chats
random text files
screenshots
saved messages
email drafts
sticky notes (physical or digital)

Not because they don t care about privacy
but because secure tools feel heavy compared to the apps they use every day.

VaultNote - Your secrets, locked until you open them.

VaultNote is a zero-knowledge, local-first encrypted notes app. Everything runs in your browser with AES-256 WebCrypto no servers, accounts, or tracking. Your thoughts never leave your device. Export encrypted .vault files, decrypt with your key, and write freely. 100% open-source and private by design
