About

Freelancer turned founder. I built ourli because no planning tool could show me the hours I'd scheduled ahead of time, so I made one that does. It shows you if work fits before you commit, your genuine capacity, and saves unfinished hours straight back to their project to be allocated later. Solo founder, based in Europe. Happiest when my schedule leaves room for a dog walk, time outdoors and a long lunch. Always up for talking about forward planning, overcommitment, and building calm tools.

Do we charge annually upfront or monthly only?

Monthly is easier to sell lower commitment, lower risk, and people can leave whenever they want, which makes the "yes" much lighter. It's also a treadmill: revenue resets every month, churn hits immediately, and I'm constantly re-earning the same customers I already won.

Annual upfront is the opposite. One decision, twelve months of runway, cash in the bank, and a customer who's far less likely to churn because they've already paid. But it's a much bigger ask, it scares off the people who aren't sure yet, and it forces me to deliver a year of value before I've earned the trust to do it.

Plan project hours against your real availability. See what is complete, allocated and still to schedule, and keep the plan accurate when things change.

Is building in public actually worth the mental burnout for early startups?

Spent a full week forcing daily updates on social media because everyone says you have to do it for traction.

Ended up totally exhausted and only got 2 signups. Felt way better to just close the laptop and fix code in silence without posting about it.

How do you guys keep sharing updates without feeling like you're just performing for an empty room?
