Do you prefer having everything in one app, or using a bunch of smaller apps?

I've tried both and I'm still not sure which I hate less.

The all in one approach is nice because everything is in one place. Notes, tasks, docs, databases, whatever.

Then eventually the app starts doing so much that I feel like I'm managing the system instead of actually using it.

So I split everything up again, end up with six different apps, and then complain that everything is scattered.

My phone is a graveyard of habit trackers i stopped using

Counted it up and I've downloaded 6 different habit apps this past year. currently using zero of them.
they all basically do the same thing check a box, watch a streak grow, get a notification when you miss a day. but something about each one makes me quit after two or three weeks. sometimes it feels too game-like, sometimes the notifications get annoying, sometimes i just forget it's on my phone.

what's the longest you've stuck with one and what made it different?

Is there a better alternative to managing notifications manually?

I ve given up trying to get notifications right.

Every few weeks I go through them again, turn some off, allow a few back in, change Focus settings then somehow I m back to getting random alerts all day.

The weird thing is I don t actually want fewer notifications. I want fewer useless ones. If someone messages me, fine. If an app wants to tell me about something that happened 9 hours ago, I really don t need that on my lock screen.
