What's great

privacy features (1)data visualization (1)clean ui (1)

3 things I like and 1 minor hump I got over. But that was probably technically not the app’s fault.

  1. Love the look and UI. Inviting so as my wife should be able to use it one day. Hoping is free.

  2. It was easy to set up my profile with all my accounts. No need for a video tutorial. It was very intuitive. If you can balance a checking account, you can master this app, easy.

  3. The default privacy mode is a great feature. If you accidentally open the app in public, your info is hidden so no sweat. I actually did do that on a crowded train. It was instantaneous so no one probably noticed but I appreciated that it only showed asterisks at first glance nonetheless.

One negative: I can’t watch TV on it? I had to think hard for a bit. It’s more about me not being versed in apps more than anything but it didn’t create an app icon(?) on my Home Screen (natively? automatically?) So at first, I had to access the app via the URL until I figured out how to create an app icon myself. Maybe it’s because I use an iPhone? I don’t know. But now it’s easy to access.

I haven’t even used all the features yet, like the travel planning feature but I feel I've already gotten a lot out of it.

More than anything, it has given me a holistic view of my finances and allowed me to easily visualize where I can comfortably cut spending and shift the cost savings into other accounts, which in turn has helped boost my confidence in financial planning, after getting a brutal gut check once I finished setting up my account. But that’s probably the best thing about it. It has allowed me to finally see where I really am financially and has gotten me on the path to being more financially aware if not more responsible…

vs Alternatives

The friendly and inviting UI over Monarch. More day to day finances tracked compared to just investment / retirement portfolio and planning.
