The same 30 second video costs 90 credits on one model and 513 on another

We price in credits. One credit is ten cents. Looks clean until you put two models side by side.

A 30 second 1080p clip is 90 credits on one video model and 513 on another. Same output spec, 5.7x the price. Credits were supposed to make cost legible and they do the opposite, because nobody carries a mental conversion rate. The number on the button is noise, so people find out what a generation costs after they have spent it.

I’m starting to think good onboarding explains less, not more

I ve been paying closer attention to onboarding flows lately. A pattern I keep noticing is that products often try to explain everything before the user has done anything. Feature tours, tooltips, welcome screens, setup questions all before the user has experienced the core value. I used to assume more explanation meant less confusion. Now I m not so sure. The products I remember most clearly tend to get me to one useful action first, then explain things when they become relevant. I d be interested in how other makers think about this: At what point does helpful onboarding become friction?
