What does it mean to be #1 Product of the day on product hunt!!

Meridian finished as the #1 Product of the Day on Product Hunt.
The rush, the overnight exitement, the hype and the time was amzaing. Watching the votes come in, responding to comments, and seeing people share Meridian made the long night worth it.

The ranking was exciting, but the real value came from seeing developers connect with a problem we had experienced ourselves: debugging, code reviews, fixes, and unplanned tasks often go unrecorded, even though they are essential to moving projects forward. Being #1 gave us visibility and validation, but it also raised a bigger question: what happens when the launch-day momentum fades? The badge is temporary, so the real measure is whether that attention turns into lasting growth.

What part of engineering can't be replaced?

Looking back, these past two weeks have been denser and more meaningful than all the time I spent building space ocr alone.

I asked six developers to build a demo with the space ocr API. What they brought back came straight out of the problems they deal with in their own work use cases I hadn't imagined. Getting to see that, and getting to talk with them about it, was probably the most valuable stretch of time in the whole life of this project.

Is the AI Notetaker space too crowded, or are we just solving the wrong problems?

Every day another AI meeting assistant launches ( @HyNote AI is launching today ), but most of them miss the real dealbreakers for power users:

  • Privacy risk: Sending sensitive business calls and client data to third-party servers.

  • Social friction: That awkward "Notetaker Bot" joining the calendar invite and killing the vibe.

  • Cost: Stacked monthly subscriptions that charge per user, per minute, or per call.

By moving speech-to-text fully on-device, you eliminate cloud privacy concerns entirely your confidential audio never leaves your machine. Plus, capturing system audio natively across Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams means zero bot invitations cluttering the meeting link.
