Let’s talk about partying. I know it’s only Tuesday, but hear me out. I’m sure you’ve had this experience at least once in your life: you’re going out with some friends, you get ready, hit the streets, and find that everywhere you turn is jam-packed and nothing is going on that suits your vibe. 

We’ve all been there, and where there’s a problem, a maker usually wants to solve it. Bardar (get it, bar and radar?) is a new map-based app that connects would-be nightlife enjoyers to venues and events in real-time. 

Initially limited to Sydney, Australia, Bardar lets you quickly see what’s happening at over 350 different venues. It gives you a live overview of what’s happening around you, including real-time busyness to avoid long queues.It also automatically syncs to ticket providers like Eventbrite to curate ticket events across the city that suit whatever vibe you’re looking for, whether it’s chill live Jazz or a heart-thumping electronic gig. 

Of course, a night out wouldn’t be a night out without some kind of drama. Bardar takes this into account, and if it's too much like, say, a fight happened at a venue or an overly aggressive bouncer ruined your night, you can quickly report it on the map to tell other would-be revelers to avoid that place maybe. 

Bardar’s makers are not the only ones trying to improve a night out. Piips takes hyperlocal to a new level by letting you communicate with people at the venue you’re at, and BarGlance popped up last year in South Carolina allowing you to check in to busy bars in realtime to see what the crowd is like. Unfortunately for Firebase, Supababse (an open-source alternative to Firebase) is sitting pretty above Firebase on the shoutouts leaderboard with double the amount of shoutouts. The question is: Will the growing popularity of open-source alternatives continue to push market leaders out of the limelight?

About those Sonos headphones we mentioned in the top news. If you didn’t click in, the story here is that the headphones were accidentally leaked by an authorized parts dealer. The Sonos Ace are the first pair of wireless headphones for the company and will be a big deal for the popular sound company.

The headphones are due to be released following Sonos’s legit announcement of its new, redesigned app.
