needs to be an app in messenger. hard to know if a friend is already available to watch a video with you at the same time? can this work asynchroniously?
@ourielohayon Hey Ouriel! Thanks for trying it out! This doesn't work asynchronously within rooms, because otherwise, we thought that'd be pretty much the same as sharing the youtube link. But maybe not! What's your thinking behind asynchronous ShareTube?
@iamwillkim don t think so. most youtube videos (at least the popular one) at crowded with and endless list of comments. some have comments closed....you want to get this cleared out and have a more "intimate" way to exchange on a video.
Would love to be able to have that kind of functionality with streaming sites such as Netflix - same reasoning (watching tv in a long distance relationship). Any plans to expand beyond YouTube?
@nitifromboston Hey Niti! We looked into it briefly, but Netflix doesn't have a public API (they shuttered it about a year ago), so we didn't build it out for this version. I'm sure we can find a way though ;)

How does this differ from Netflix Party / are you intent on making this focused around YouTube, or is that just a starting point?
@kevinsuh34 Netflix party is awesome! We see it as a tradeoff on usability. I personally don't like downloading services, and would much rather use the browser for my needs. Others like it, and I'm sure you can do quite a bit more with a downloaded client-side service like Netflix Party, but only if you've downloaded it ;)
We're tossing around the idea of integrating with Netflix, will update you if it happens!
