Hello guys, we're thrilled to announce that Records, after two years in development, is available now from the Mac App Store.

We have made Records for Mac for all the users like us and you who need to efficiently collect and organize any kind of information, from your movies to your customer invoices in this easy-to-use database creation and management tool.

We are confident that Records can help you to collect and organize better all the things you love day by day.

@andreagelati Hello Andrea. Congrats and Good luck!
What's the difference with Tap Forms ?
Would love to see that kind of software using Google Sheets as database. (with real time sync between GG Sheets and the software)

@jberrebi Hello Jeremie, one of the main key features of Records is to allow the user to spread the creativity to create templates smoothly with no friction at all. What you see is what you get. There is no design or edit modes, just create you personal template and start adding data instantly.

Another key feature are these beautiful eye-candy themes. That allow you to tint your databases like you want.

This is our first release, the 1.0. We have a lot of new features planned for the 1.1. :)

$50 is a lot for a personal tool. A trial is a must in my opinion, so I can at least try it out and see if it's worth $50 to me.

@timjahn Hello Tim, we are working on that. :)

@andreagelati can answer your Q's!

It looks great. Reminds me of Microsoft Access but geared towards personal use. Great way to take ownership of my data. Is there anyway to get a trial?

@mpiccinato Hello, not at this time but we are working on that. :)
Troy Carlson — Editor in Chief @ modernsmarthome.com
@mpiccinato I had the same question...this looks like a nice tool for managing "personal inventory," but I'm hesitant to shell out $50 for something I'm not sure I'd use (is it low friction enough I'd actually maintain it, will the templates accommodate the kind of data I want to store, etc.).

@mpiccinato @troy_carlson Has mentioned previously we are working on that. Consider we are going to introduce a lot new features in 1.1 as free update for all customers. This release is just the 1.0 and Records is our main goal for the future. :)

@mpiccinato @andreagelati I know building trial functionality into a product can be a pretty big effort that could otherwise be spent building other cool features, but it definitely goes a long way in getting window shoppers to pull out their credit cards. Maybe put up a link to "Try It" that leads to a clever "coming soon" message and an email capture page for users to get notified when the trial is available. You can use that to see roughly how many people are interested in a trial, be able to email them when it's ready, and then prioritize development from there.

@mpiccinato @troy_carlson Hello Troy, we are working on the trial version. coming soon in 2 weeks.
DavidPessah — Innovation + Strategic Investments
@mpiccinato @andreagelati agree with the above. Super interested, but would really love a trial version. At minimum, 1-day just to test drive and see if it would fit into my workflow. Alternatively, you could do a 100% money-back guarantee within 1-10 days (or something like that) instead of a trial. $50 is totally worth it if it fits into my flow, but hard to know without testing.

@andreagelati Love this idea, any chance an iphone app is in the roadmap?

Is there evernote or other export option?
M
Andrea Gelati — Developer, Push Popcorn
@ozguralaz We are working to introduce CSV/Json import/export in 1.1.
James Pember — CEO, Sparta
This looks like a really well made tool!

@mpiccinato I'd like to know though: what are the most popular use cases?
M
Andrea Gelati — Developer, Push Popcorn
@mpiccinato @jamesepember Hello James, the main user case of Records is to allow all the users to design it's own user cases! :)

This looks really great. I would love to see something more advanced. I am currently using Zoho Creator and Intuit Quickbase for a couple of projects but both feel clunky. Nothing better out there though.

@alxmlv Hello Alex, Records still just at 1.0, we have a long list of cool features to introduce in the next updates, as free update for all customers. :)

@andreagelati Oh, I understand. 👍

@mkhoury Designed to be the next level of Bento. :)

How often do people use this to keep track of personal lives, e.g. movies they've watched, books they've read? Strongly believe self quantification will be very powerful once we have a set of tools to allow us to do it easily.
M
Andrea Gelati — Developer, Push Popcorn
@taykcrane Yep Taylor, this is why we have created Records! :)
