What do you think? …

Angel † エンジェル™
I totally get this! However, this is very sad, the app itself is very sad. You must be feeling sad when you were coding this!
Jamie Akers
@angel54689 I think I could get this if it gave you the option of: A - send message into the abyss; B - send message back to yourself in the future (no matter how emotionally charged you are about a person it fades over time); C - Alicebot like responses, possibly designed to encourage positive thinking?
Angel † エンジェル™
@jamiequackers You are right! Unfortunately this doesn't encourage positive thinking! No offense to the founder, but this app is actually for weak people.
Stuart Berwick
@jamiequackers thank you for your feedback. We love your ideas, completely agree and it sure does 'fade over time'. We are just there in that moment of anger and regret...maybe Azealia Banks or Kanye West could use Locket instead of going on their Twitter Rants! @angel54689 We are not too sad but realized that when you are dealing with loss or anger there are so many ways to handle it. Being able to say what you want to say, without holding anything back because no one will ever see the messages is pretty powerful and therapeutic...try it and let us know what you think.
Angel † エンジェル™
@stuartcorky Well, I know exactly what did you mean, because, I did that too in the past. And that's why I don't want to do that. I don't want to be weak. That's a very bad feeling, sadly!
Stuart Berwick
@angel54689 If we can help just one person deal with things and be strong 💪then it will all be worth it
Ryan Hoover
So if I understand correctly, the app is used to simulate having a conversation with someone but really the words just disappear into the ether. Is that right, @stuartcorky?
Stuart Berwick
@rrhoover thats right. Locket is made for that feeling you get when you have to speak to someone and you shouldn't (ex girl/boyfriend) or can't (lost a loved one). We spoke to lots of people who had draft emails and notes that they have written and never sent. Subreddits exist for this such as https://www.reddit.com/r/UnsentL.... There wasn't a way of doing this with messaging which is how most people communicate nowadays. It is therapeutic, a release, a way to say what you actually want to say, unfiltered and completely private. No one will ever know.
Callan Christensen
@stuartcorky @rrhoover I was really hoping that this was a pivot for a broken messaging app that you didn't have time to debug.
Satshabad Khalsa
I think it's pretty clever. When people go through tough times it can help to write letters to those we miss but can't talk to, or to those we are angry at. So why not a messenger app for that instead?
Stuart Berwick
@satshabad thank you, exactly what you said
Andrew Palmer
This app probably won't reach a billion people, but I think the founders are trying to target a very niche market here. I probably won't be using this app myself, but I'm surprised this is being dismissed by a usually open-minded community.
Stuart Berwick
"Ever wanted to send THAT message and you just can't.... Or you can and you did and now you wish you didn't..... Well here's Locket. The messaging app that never actually sends the messages So you can say what you want, when you want and to who you want.....and they will never know. Dance like no-ones watching Text like no-ones listening"
João Antunes
Hi! @stuartcorky What compelled you to make this?
Stuart Berwick
@joantune A friend of mine came to me with the idea after she was dumped. Louisa wrote a blog about it - https://medium.com/@louisaislocket
Jamie Akers
I might be missing something but I don't get the use case here. Secondly, is there a reason why this is implemented as an iPhone app rather than a web-page? A web-page would work across all devices and you could use the Facebook API (for example) to pull in the contact details for your app.
Stuart Berwick
@jamiequackers thanks so much for feedback. We felt that as most messaging is done in an app we had to give users that same experience. Don't open whatsapp when your drunk/angry/sad. Open Locket instead. We are looking to build Android net. Great idea about bringing in contacts, we felt that because you may want to speak to someone who may not be around or you didn't have them as a contact (Justin Bieber anyone?!) then you create ones especially for Locket.
Aram Shahinyan
total madness. the more people use this app, the less hope this world has. don't get this stuff.
Stuart Berwick
@aramiggs We are just trying to help people out 😕 We asked a lot of people if they had email drafts that they have never sent and most said yes. It is that same concept, just most people use messaging nowadays not email. Thank you for your feedback though 🙏
Aram Shahinyan
@stuartcorky I would like to make it as clear as possible, the point wasn't about the app, the point was about where we, as sociecty, have ended up.
Stuart Berwick
@aramiggs Thanks Aram, all good mate. We really hope that this helps people deal with this modern society you talk about 😊
