This could be very useful for those honing their writing skills, forcing one to write freely. Really neat idea.
Natanael Espinosa — Embedded developer, Xolutronic
@rrhoover Exactly what I was thinking. Writer's block will hit you eventually. But overall, great idea!
Lucas Lindsey — Community Manager, Domi Station
Well this seems stressful. Gloriously wonderfully stressful.
Logan Nickleson — Creator of Music for Makers
@urbnist Agreed! I guess it would be useful for brainstorming/thought-dumping purposes—just to get the words out. But man, the anxiety!

Mostly hunted this because it belongs in my "unnecessary" collection - but also I'm interested to see what people think. Useful or a complete waste of engineering resources?

@jesseditson Like your Unnecessary collection :) https://www.producthunt.com/@jes...

Wonderful idea. I'd love to try this, but not sure I want to spend $14,99 on it when I don't know if I'd actually use it.

@nielsify Follow your heart. Also you can request a refund from Apple if it's bollocks.
Manuel Ebert — UX Designer, Hey Inc.
@nielsify Try http://themostdangerouswritingap..., which is the same idea, but free.

I've been using Flowstate for almost all of my writing/directing work the past three years. Very excited to finally share it with everyone. If you have any questions about it, hit me.
Otherwise, here's a mysterious and arguably unhelpful ad we just released: https://vimeo.com/calebslain/flo...

@calebslain that is the best teaser I've ever seen for an app. Very nicely done.
My old english teacher would love this lol. She used to have us sit down and type non-stop (even if we weren't thinking of anything useful) because it helps foster creative thoughts.
This is great! For a Innovation and Design Thinking class we were asked to brainstorm on innovative ways to prevent procrastination and/or interruptions - this idea came up. Really excited to see it come to life.

Love this. When writing, one of my favorite quotes to remember is "writers block is fear of being judged"
I often find myself stopping and worrying about a word ("will people hate me for this? do I sound dumb?"), when really I should just keep writing and come back to it later.

i really like the idea of this, but for someone that is on the sidelines, $15 is too much. I'd pull the trigger at $5. I'm cheap. ㄟ( ・ө・ )ㄏ

This would inevitably end in me hitting the space bar to keep it going as I thought of what I needed to say next .
Steven Rueter — CEO & Founder at Kindred
I love the idea, but the $9.99 price point is a little steep...
Ryan Leys — Product Training at Constant Contact
File this under the category of things that seem super cool that I am to terrified to ever actually use myself, right next to hang gliders.
Joel Patrick — Head of Product at HealthUnlocked
I love the idea. I haven't used it so I can't comment on the execution, but think the idea is innovative.

The site looks fantastic and really draws me into the concept. Too bad I have to pay 15 dollar upfront to try it. Flowstate reminds me of the "Write drunk, edit sober" quote from Hemingway you also see in other apps like Draftin.com. I would love to get my hands on a trial before I buy...
Ken Rossi — CardStack
I just had an anxiety attack watching the examples on your site. Can you tweak the 5 seconds or is that a permanent setting?
M
Caleb Slain — Filmmaker. Flowstate co-creator.
@kenrossi The exact value of seconds to nothing (STN) was honed over years of testing, and will remain adamantine for the foreseeable future. Thankfully there are other things to tweak, such as flow session length, choice of font, and the patience of Uber drivers.

I love this product because..
It inspires pure creativity..
I would love to see a hall of fame for who can write the longest story..
Because this takes quite a bit of skill to master..
The resultants would be a mind's eye.. and very educational & entertaining!
Thanks,
Jaswinder Brar

i don t understand the point of this app. can someone explain how it can be used?
Mohamed Said — Web Developer
I don't see why would someone use just an app, specially for creative writing. Unless you are filling a school paper and you need specific number of words so you force yourself to write just anything this app is useless 😑
Alexander Greim — mobile engineering @xing
Great idea packed in a pretty box. It may make sense for heavy writers.
My writing normally is too precious to get lost. And it definitely does - completely. There is no way around. Not even copy & paste.

I love this idea and can't wait to see what other evil it spawns...
Kelly Kuhn-Wallace — Growth Marketing & Strategy Consultant
Ooooh, the pain. This is beautiful. Why no trial?
joshua bradley — Portable Co-founder, Step One
I haven't tried yet, but suspect this could be the best tool for becoming a better writer
Kasturika R — Lead - Design in Tech, Ideafarms
Like the website - and the story creating the use-case... Great idea. But not sure I would pay for the App. Any plans for Android?
