When I was a kid, I used to pirate everything in part because I had very little money but more importantly, I had limited to no access to download/stream music, movies, games, etc. online over a decade ago. I can see how this would appeal to a certain audience but I think the majority of people are satisfied with Spotify, Rdio, Apple Music, and other services today.
Thoughts, @andrewmd5? Also, are you worried about a lawsuit?

@rrhoover As true in the past as it is in the future - Better to ask for forgiveness than permission. Or maybe just stop when you get the first cease and desist order?
@rrhoover I think if the majority were happy I wouldn't have as many users as I do right now. I see no reason why Aurous can't be real competition for some of these "major" players.

Spotify et al steal music from musicians and hide it under a $0.0039 per play royalty (which amounts to nothing). I hope this project gets canned, but at least you're not lying about paying artists.

I saw many websites writing about this project, can be expected I assume.
I think this project builds on an interesting legacy beyond Popcorn Time. Remember Songbird and Tomahawk (https://www.tomahawk-player.org). Even Grooveshark began with a very similar product.
I'm curious to see how long the labels let this last.
@andrewmd5: did you look into/are you using MusicBrainz? http://musicbrainz.org. Personally, I think one of the biggest problems with modern music products is the lack of leveraging a centralized DB that serves as the canonical record for what song you're listening too. Bop.fm is approaching this in an interesting way, but I think there is more room for growth here...

Nice design! I am a bit worried for you though. As someone who can call more than one label boss personal friends; they're going to sue quickly and relentlessly. If it were me, I'd hire you instead, but these guys really do see things differently.
Hello @andrewmd5, you did a great job with Aurous, it's very similar to what I wanted to do at first with Kiwi Music Player, but for legal reasons I was unable to make it that way. Congratulations on this great app and I hope everything will end well with all the problems that RIAA is causing you, stay strong! It's hard to make something this days, there's always someone trying to sue someone...
