This part of another project I made, and I decided to make it available for free to everyone to use. ZeroTrace is a browser-based communication tool built to do one simple thing well: let people talk without being watched, logged, or profiled. Most communication platforms today are built around central servers, accounts, identifiers, and stored metadata. Even when messages are encrypted, the system still knows who talked to whom, when, for how long, and often from where. That information alone tells a story. ZeroTrace takes a different approach. There are no accounts. No phone numbers. No persistent identifiers. No message history stored on servers. ZeroTrace connects people directly, browser to browser, using end-to-end encrypted peer-to-peer communication. Once the connection ends, nothing remains to mine, analyze or sell. Think of it as the closest digital equivalent to two people standing in a field talking. No intermediary. No recorder running by default. No silent observer in the room. This is not a VPN. It a centralized logic load that becomes decentralized edge after the handshake. Video and voice are great as the encryption/streaming is end-end. No processing server in the middle. What it does do is remove default surveillance from normal human conversation. ZeroTrace is built for people and organizations who need privacy without friction. Journalists talking to sources. Lawyers speaking with clients. Therapists holding sessions. Nonprofits supporting vulnerable communities. Small businesses discussing sensitive work. Friends having conversations that do not need to become data. Marginalized folks. There is a common argument that tools like this could be used by bad actors. Every form of communication ever created has been. Phones, email, fax, and face-to-face conversation included. Designing systems around worst-case misuse leads to permanent surveillance of everyone else. ZeroTrace is built around a different principle: protect ordinary people. ZeroTrace also makes a clear distinction between private conversation and public accountability. Public recording by citizens matters. Phones, visible cameras, and multiple independent recordings protect civilians and good officers alike. Private conversation is a different category entirely. ZeroTrace does not store conversations. It does not build profiles. It does not retain metadata. It does not turn people into products. You open a link, you talk, and when you leave, it’s gone. Support is optional. There is no paywall.
