1) The pain of networking on the present-day open Internet combined with the inadequacy of VPNs. I imagined making up LANs as easily as one joins a Facebook group or a Google hangout. I'm also interested in decentralizing the Internet a bit, promoting easier P2P collaboration.
2) Really conveying what it is -- it's not just a "VPN," more like software defined networking (SDN) over WAN. It can do things VPNs can't do, and there are some capabilities that aren't even exposed yet. I envision "the world is your data center" and SDN everywhere-- imagine if your phone and your cloud server could join the same fabric.
3) Currently looking into turning it into a real company with funding. Not sure how-- looking at everything from crowd funding to angel/VC and having a few early conversations.
Customer feedback is excellent so far. UI is a little rough but is beta and already far better than most VPNs and similar things. If I can get muscle behind it, one of the things I want to do is to take its usability far beyond what you see now and into "Steve Jobs would not fire me" user experience territory. :)
