Then someone said "okay guys let's calculate who paid what" — and 2 hours later we were all staring at spreadsheets, WhatsApp screenshots, and bank statements. Someone felt short-changed. Someone forgot to transfer. The good vibes from the trip evaporated in 20 minutes of money arguments. I tried Splitwise. Found it genuinely confusing — and they recently capped the free plan at 4 transactions per day with forced 10-second ads between each entry. For a 5-day trip with 30 expenses, you'd need a week just to enter them all. So I built ZenTrip from scratch. The thing I'm most proud of is the end-to-end settlement flow — you don't just see who owes who, you actually pay inside the app and the other person confirms it. Fully closed loop. No "did you transfer?" WhatsApp messages. The other feature I love is Trusted Access — one of our biggest user complaints from testing was that older family members felt excluded because they weren't comfortable with apps. Now they can log in, authorize a trusted group member to manage entries on their behalf, and still see everything transparently. It's a PWA — installs on Android, iOS and desktop in one tap from the browser. No Play Store, no App Store, no update downloads. Basic use is completely free. Always will be.
