Hey Product Hunt 👋 I’m Max, the maker behind Zapret. A few months ago I was working with an international team that lived on Discord and kept our references on YouTube. Then the local ISP rolled out deep-packet inspection and—overnight—those two sites might as well have fallen off the internet. Full VPNs helped, but they were slow, pricey, and often blocked themselves. I realised that what I really needed wasn’t a Swiss-army-knife VPN; it was a laser-focused tool that could punch through DPI only when Discord or YouTube were in use, stay invisible the rest of the time, and never ask my non-technical teammates to touch a config file. Zapret grew out of that frustration. Zapret sits at the network edge and rewrites just the packets DPI cares about, so your regular traffic goes out at full speed while Discord and YouTube sail straight past the censor wall. No logins, no bandwidth caps, a 5 MB installer, and a single “On” switch—that’s the whole experience. Because it only wakes up for two domains, it’s faster than a full tunnel and doesn’t break local banking or streaming services. Under the hood it uses a rolling set of obfuscation tricks that swap automatically as soon as a pattern is detected, which means it keeps working long after static VPN signatures get black-listed. I’m most proud that people who would never bother with a traditional VPN can install Zapret in under a minute and immediately re-join their communities. Today we support Windows and macOS; Android is in testing, and iOS will follow once Apple finishes relaxing their new Network Extension rules. Long-term I’d love to add a “custom domain” mode so you can protect any site with the same stealth technology. If you live behind DPI, give it a try and tell me how it goes.
