YardAtlas addresses a real problem for commercial drivers: standard maps usually lead to a street address, but rarely identify the correct truck entrance, safe approach, receiving dock, check-in point, or staging area. YardAtlas turns firsthand driver knowledge into structured, searchable, moderator-reviewed map guidance. GPT-6 Astra served as the primary development agent for the working product. It designed and implemented the location database, satellite-map interface, pin and path editor, mobile workflows, authentication, saved places, contribution tracking, and moderator review system. It also helped iterate on the editor using feedback from real phone testing and carried changes through debugging and deployment. Astra does not invent or automatically approve truck directions. Public guidance comes from driver submissions and moderator review, keeping AI focused on building the system rather than making unsupported safety-critical claims.

I’m an active truck driver, and YardAtlas started with a problem I encounter regularly: a street address gets you near a facility, but it doesn’t necessarily tell you which driveway a truck should use, where the receiving docks are, where to check in, or where you can safely wait. Like many drivers, I would study satellite imagery before arriving and try to piece that information together myself. I wanted to create a place where drivers could share that “last block” and onsite knowledge with the next person headed there. With GPT-6 Astra, the idea evolved from a basic location lookup into a working community mapping system with persistent facility records, phone-friendly pin and path placement, saved locations, submission tracking, and moderator review before changes become public. YardAtlas is still an early proof of concept, and its usefulness will depend on contributions from drivers who know these locations. My goal is to keep it free and gradually build a reliable collection of practical arrival information that saves drivers time, wrong turns, and unnecessary headaches.
