Amazing look product. Event's a tight place. What makes you different from the other platforms like Evite and Facebook events? I see that no accounts starting is very helpful though. How do you manage spam?

@dennis_dang Thanks Dennis! What makes us stand out from them is our straightforward user experience and focus on privacy. We want to build the simplest and easiest way to get people together at the same time and place because it's a problem we have. We are motivated to solve the problem and we don't rely on outside money so we are not beholden to obsessing over growth or tricking people with dark UX patterns just to grow and satisfy investors. Regarding spam, if that's a problem we have it's a good sign that people are using it! However more specifically we thought a lot about what permissions event creators, hosts, and guests have and we will continue to rapidly iterate on those features to mitigate any abuse of the system. This isn't an event discovery platform, so if you don't post your event link in a public place it will be very difficult for a random person to find an event and spam it. However that is something we are thinking about for publicly posted events.

My brother and I were having trouble organizing our friends outside of Facebook. As more of our friends left Facebook, discussing plans became scattered across group texts, emails, and social networks, with no clear place to know what the plan was. We tried existing event apps, but they were all driven by monetization, growth-hacking, and becoming mini-social networks which made for a frustrating user experience. So we built YaHerd, a simple way to pick a time and place and share it with anyone without needing an account. We hope people will use YaHerd to organize events as simple as a pick-up soccer game or night at the movies, or even large gatherings such as protests or community events. We believe people solving a problem they are passionate about can build a better internet than the profit and power-driven tech giants. YaHerd does not have ads, ad-tracking cookies, or paid features, and it’s entirely free and supported by donations.
