Why a messenger? Translation apps make two people pass one phone back and forth. In real places — a hotel front desk, a clinic, a shop counter, an office with overseas partners — that breaks the conversation. In xy each person stays on their own screen, in their own language. How it works • Show a QR code → the other person scans it, picks a language, and you're talking. No sign-up for them. • OpenAI GPT translates with the conversation context, so tone, names and earlier messages carry through. • If GPT is slow, Google Translate takes over instantly, so the chat never stalls. • Voice: Whisper turns speech into text, then it's translated the same way. • iPhone, Android and the web app (app.xy-app.io) share the same conversation.
