Modern music apps offer huge catalogs, animated lyrics, endless playlists, and countless features. They're powerful, but sometimes I just want a simple player. That's why I built Xtunes. It's designed to stay out of the way: minimal, easy to use, and optimized for eyes-free navigation. Import local music directly and stay in control.

Hey PH! 👋 Xtunes began as a weekend vibe-coding experiment, but it was really inspired by a much older idea: Cartunes, a gesture-first music player that made controlling music effortless without looking at the screen. I missed the simplicity of older music apps: local files, gesture controls, and the ability to enjoy music without being constantly online. Modern streaming apps have amazing catalogs, but sometimes I just want a player that does one thing well. Using AI-assisted development, I built Xtunes to bring back that experience: a clean interface, eyes-free controls, direct local file import, and zero unnecessary clutter. In many ways, Xtunes is an experiment in using modern tools to recreate a product philosophy that feels increasingly rare: software that gives users ownership, simplicity, and control.
