Today LLMs have completely changed how we can approach language learning. I decided to revive the project, rewriting it from the ground up (Angular 19 + Supabase) to build a smarter, zero-maintenance learning app. Here is how Wortschatz does things differently: - Zero Deck Building: You don't manage vocabulary anymore. The app automatically batches AI-generated German words directly into the database. - Contextual AI Grading: Instead of just marking a typo as "wrong," the AI evaluates your answers and actually explains your mistakes. - Adaptive Spaced Repetition: Every 5-word lesson is a custom mix of fresh vocabulary and the specific words you struggled with in previous sessions. - Built for Consistency: To prevent burnout (and to practically manage the AI token budget), learning is capped at 5 short lessons a day. It’s built for steady habits, not cramming. As a solo developer, building this was a fantastic excuse to dive deep into AI coding tools and pragmatic edge-function architectures.
