Most IP-data providers resell the same handful of geolocation databases. We take the opposite approach: a globally distributed scanner fleet across North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific continuously resolves reverse and forward DNS across all 4.3 billion IPv4 addresses. The data is first-party, kept fresh in near real time, and served as clean JSON in under a second. Our fourth-generation scanner engine is built to complete a full pass of the IPv4 space in under 24 hours.
The response times are shockingly fast, way snappier than the geolocation APIs I've been using. Really like that the data is first-party instead of the usual reseller setup.
@eminetacmwrhb thank you speed and first-party data was the key when building it. The next upgrade in line is the Clickhouse master which would allow the full database to load into memory making every API call and page load sub-second. Currently some of the premium API calls and UI page loads take 2-3 seconds (complex quarries).
The 24-hour full IPv4 sweep claim is genuinely impressive, and the near real-time refresh means I'm not working with stale PTR records anymore. API responses came back snappy too.
@emel428396 I'm currently sustaining 55-65k queries per second. The hard part was ensuring abuse complaints would be at an absolute minimum while also getting accurate data. The scanners are adaptive based on resolvers performance and specifically setup to load it's shards to where no single ORG/ASN will get hit with more than 5 queries per second per IP. Once the Clickhouse master is upgraded, I'll be able to bring that time down. My ultimate goal is 8-12 hours which I think is the sweet spot.

Scanning all 4.3 billion IPv4 addresses in under 24 hours is genuinely impressive. One thing that would make this even more useful for me: add IPv6 support, or at least make it clear on the site when that is on the roadmap. Most of the traffic I analyze now is v6, and having to bolt on a separate provider just for that is a real pain.

I have already started collecting active IPv6 /64's but have not put them into the active scan fleet yet, but it is coming soon. I will ensure to update the site to pass that information along.

Would love to see a websocket or streaming endpoint for bulk lookups, since hitting the API one IP at a time gets slow when youre enriching large traffic logs. Also a quick CLI tool would make testing way easier without writing scripts every time.
@sefa1270776 It already has a CLI tool "curl https://worldip.io/{ip}"and bulk lookups and direct mmdb files are available under the premium tiers which have not yet released. I'm still fine tuning.
