World Radio plays 59,000 live radio stations from every country on earth — no account, nothing to install. Spin a globe or browse by country and genre, tap a station, and it's playing. Every stream is served over https, so it works in any browser. The lock-screen and car controls are built for driving: next and back keep working, there's no pause button to hit by accident, and the audio survives a call ending or a wifi-to-mobile handover.

Hey Product Hunt 👋 I built this because every radio app I tried wanted an account, nagged me to subscribe, then died the moment I locked my phone in the car. World Radio is a static web app with no backend at all, playing 59,000 stations from the Radio-Browser catalogue. The parts I'm proudest of are the boring ones: keeping a live audio session alive on a locked phone, surviving a phone call ending, and switching from home wifi to mobile data without losing the lock-screen controls. There's deliberately no pause button. Live radio has no paused state, and an accidental pause from a steering-wheel control is what kills the session. Happy to answer anything, especially the iOS media session quirks.

World Radio started with a small annoyance: I wanted to hear what a city sounds like, not read about it.

It's a 3D globe with about 58,000 live stations on it. Spin it, tap a glowing dot, and you're listening to a real broadcast from that place a jazz bar in Tokyo, a call-in show in Buenos Aires, a breakfast show in Dublin. No account, no sign-up, no app store.
