Our team literally started building something like this into our writing app today 😜 @benWTNB and I are each writing 1,667 words a day on Medium to prepare to write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days in November (National Novel Writing Month). The only issue is when you want to hit that mark but don't have any sense of when you will, you get out of the zone by constantly checking word count. Some tools make it easy to see word count, others aren't, and so it can be a pain that cramps your flow. The simple notification here is exactly all you need to keep focus. Will use this immediately! $5 USD ain't cheap but this is so exactly what I need that I'm happy to pay for it 👍 And this of course would work for morning pages / 750 words! @buster, you should like this one!

@playswithfood Fantastic! So glad it has come in useful for you! Working towards daily targets (like for NaNoWriMo and the like) is exactly what I built it for - for me it came out of writing a book and wanting to keep consistent progress with a daily word count target. I'll be working on getting the next version (1.3) finished and submitted in the next few weeks, and while I'm trying to keep the app fairly focused on its core purpose, if you have any feature requests or suggestions please do let me know! :)

@ejdraper @playswithfood Very technically impressive how you've managed to get it to count across apps! We're taking a little different approach to it that we'll be hiding the word count all together in First Draft until you hit it, so writers get lost in the writing until they've reached their goal. Maybe it's just me, but I get very distracted thinking "Am I there yet?" kind of like I outlined in this post the other day when shooting for 1,667: https://medium.com/@benwtnb/day-... p.s. Looking forward to checking out your book on making Mac Apps in Ruby Motion!
