Coffee Leaf tea is an infusion made from arabica coffee leaves. The taste is incredibly smooth, with no harshness and no bitterness no matter how long it's steeped. The caffeine is similar to green tea (20mg per 8oz), for a clear focus without the crash. It contains polyphenols and delivers antioxidants, and may help reduce inflammation.

Hi Product Hunters, My name is Arnaud, and I'm the co-founder of Wize Monkey along with Max Rivest and Enrique Ferrufino. We wanted to share the Wize Monkey story with you, and give you a chance to learn about the unique product we created: Coffee Leaf tea. While doing our Master's in France, Max and myself discovered that Coffee Leaf tea (the infusion of the coffee plant's leaves) had been consumed for several hundreds of years in Ethiopia and Indonesia for its health benefits, namely its high content in antioxidants and polyphenols (mangiferin and chlorogenic acids). Once we realized that the coffee bean season is very short, and farmers trim and discard the leaves during the 9-month off-season, we decided to pursue the project as a social venture that could create an entirely new beverage category and help out farmers worldwide. At the end of the school year, we flew to Nicaragua to make tea from coffee leaves and see how we could reinvent an old staple. After trying various methods and going through crazy adventures through Nicaragua, and ultimately getting some luck in the process, we ended up meeting our third founder and coffee farmer genius Enrique and made the world's first craft Coffee Leaf tea on his farm. It was a really cool experience because we got to uncover an unknown flavour profile and something that has never been done in history (crafted and lightly fermented coffee leaf tea versus only sundried like in the past). The tea we made turned about to be very smooth, without any bitterness no matter how long it was steeped (shoutout to people forgetting they have a tea going on). A tea sommelier described the aroma as being a mix of honeysuckle, tobacco, toast and a hint of earthiness. It has the diffused caffeine of a light green tea, so you can essentially get a focus boost all day without risking the jitters and insomnia later. What's even better is that the leaves are usually trimmed off and tossed out, so we're taking a by-product and repurposing them. We also employed people throughout the off-season that usually have no work because the coffee harvest is so seasonal (3 months a year in winter). Fast forward to the present, and we're now available in about 1,000 stores (Sprouts, Gelson's, Mother's Market, Whole Foods NorCal) in the US and Canada. Our line has 7 flavors (Original, Mango, Earl Grey etc.) in biodegradable tea bags and 8 in loose leaf tins.
