It has been 5 years since the first COVID lockdown and we have lost many close ones along the way. In collaboration with a charity, we decided to do a passion project to allow users send messages to space to share their thoughts, wishes and prayers and find solace in the night sky.
Your messages get encrypted one-way on your device and posted to a distributed message queue, then a laser transmitter sends the encrypted message using morse code. Nothing ever gets decrypted and no one, not even the user, can see the original message. The laser wavelength sits at 650nm on the atmospheric window to have at least a portion of photons emitted leave the atmosphere. More info is available at https://wishoom.com/about
After reaching few hundred users and positive feedback, we decided to share it with the PH community. You can use the promotion code on the launch to claim 50 credits from your account dashboard and get started.
@nuric@eric_johnson_95 Maybe I don't check PH that often but this is literally the sweetest launch ever! My heart is locked with this 🔐

@nuric The logo the idea. Awesome. Saw some doubts down here, perhaps let people know what are metaphors would help a bit. But the idea is great. Congrats.
@halgod Thank you! I think some people focus on the idea of sending a message to space means communicating with aliens. If you instead focus on transmitting photons into space created by your thoughts, prayers and wishes, it works. You can read more at https://wishoom.com/about

@nuric Wow so this part is actually legit. VERY dope man.

Wow nuric! It really surprised me and I’m more than sure it’s gonna happen also with many others. Wish you all the best here
@desmond_ren1 Thank you! There is currently a limit of 1400 characters to not clog up the transmission queue. But you can, and people often, send multiple smaller messages. The laser pulses the morse code characters of the encrypted message, so it never gets decoded. After transmission the encrypted message is also deleted from the database. https://wishoom.com/about?tab=faq has some more info.

@german_merlo1 Thanks, it's great to see that the idea resonates with a lot of people.
Sending messages to the cosmos.. We all have messages we hope reach someone, but from which we don’t expect a reply.

@asimk Hahahha. I repeat. DO NOT ANSWER. DO NOT ANSWER. DO NOT ANSWER.
Something you should @elonmusk on X for promotion.

Love the cosmic approach to communication! Is there a limit to message length? Also, how does the encryption work for laser-based data transfer?
