My co-founder and I built WireChord because we wanted to solve a problem we faced ourselves. As a drummer and a pianist, jamming online was always a frustrating experience for us. Standard apps either had terrible lag or required a ridiculous amount of setup with external sound cards, audio interfaces, and cables. We realized that instead of streaming heavy audio over the internet, we could just stream lightweight MIDI data and let the browser render the sound locally in real-time. This keeps the latency incredibly low and requires zero configuration. We’re currently polishing the app and preparing for our first live closed beta tests.
