Most AI tools on the Mac work the same way: you open them, paste in context, and explain what you were doing. That s fine until you notice how much of your day is spent re-explaining your own day.
I ve been working on the opposite approach with Winq. It knows where your attention is: which screen you re looking at, what you read, and when you walked away. With that, it can help without being asked:
You step out of a call for 7 minutes, and when you look back, a summary of what you missed is already there.
You leave your desk, your Mac locks and your music pauses. When you re back, a card shows where you left off.
You vaguely remember an article from Tuesday. You describe it, and Winq takes you back to the exact spot.
The tricky part is trust. Something that notices you is only useful if it never feels like it s watching you. Winq keeps the camera on your Mac, never saves frames, and only reaches cloud AI when you ask it something.
Hey Product Hunters,
I’m Mahmoud, and I build Winq.
Winq started as a hands-free control app. You could wink to click and use face gestures for shortcuts. People loved the demo, but they didn’t keep using the gestures. What they kept was the quiet part: look at a screen or window, and it’s focused. No clicking or alt-tabbing to get your keyboard where your eyes already are.
So for v2 I cut the gestures and went all in on that one idea: Winq knows where your attention is. Once your Mac knows that, it can do a lot more than switch focus. That’s what Winq Intelligence is:
Seen (⌃⌥S). Find anything you’ve read in your own words, like “that Postgres article from Tuesday”. Winq finds the page and the app and answers from what you read. Then it takes you back to the exact spot.
Meeting catch-up. Step away from a call. When you look back, a summary is waiting at the edge of your screen: what was decided, who owns what, and anything someone asked you.
Away mode. Walk away and your Mac locks and pauses what’s playing. When you come back, one card shows what you were working on and which notifications came in while you were gone.
Why I think this is the right pivot: most AI tools wait for you to open them and explain your context. Winq already has your context, because it knows what you looked at and when you left. The best features are the ones you never have to start yourself.
Privacy is the whole foundation. The camera stays on your Mac, frames are never saved, and Winq only uses cloud AI when you ask it something.
Gaze focus is free forever. Winq Intelligence comes with the paid plans.
I’d love to hear what you’d want Winq to catch you up on next. I’ll be here all day answering questions.
