I built Where Pets Are Welcome to make finding pet-friendly holiday accommodation easier. As a pet owner, I know how frustrating it can be searching through holiday websites only to discover that many places do not accept pets or are not genuinely set up for them. This directory helps pet owners discover holiday homes across the UK and Ireland where their pets are welcome, making it easier to plan trips with the whole family.
Love how the directory filters are clearly built around what pet owners actually care about, like pet type and size limits, instead of just a generic yes/no checkbox. That kind of specificity makes planning a trip with the dog so much less of a guessing game.
Finally a directory that filters out the places that just technically allow pets but are really not set up for them. Searching by region was quick and the listings felt curated rather than scraped together.
Tried it for a weekend in the Lakes and actually found three cottages that let the dog without tacking on huge cleaning fees. Filtering by specific pet type was a nice touch I wasn't expecting.
One thing that would really help is adding a filter for specific pet types beyond dogs and cats, like rabbits or birds, since not every "pet-friendly" place welcomes all animals. A "pet amenities" badge showing things like enclosed gardens or nearby walking trails would also make comparing listings way easier at a glance.
Finally a directory that gets it - not just pet "tolerated" but genuinely set up for them. Searched a few spots in the Lake District and the filters felt thoughtfully built around what actually matters when traveling with a dog.
Would love to see a filter for specific pet types beyond just dogs and cats, like rabbits or reptiles. Also helpful would be real reviews from past guests about how genuinely pet-friendly the place actually was, since photos can be misleading.
