Hey Product Hunters. I made this app called WhatToText AI. Here’s the problem I had, and the solution I thought of: Problem💭 As a non-native English speaker who immigrated to the U.S., I found texting in English challenging because the flow and nuances differ greatly from Chinese. It was quite hard for me to build deeper connection in texting with my new friend, crush, or my uncle. Whenever I didn’t know what to text or say in English, I just looked up on Reddit or Google when LLM didn’t exist yet. Solution🧪 Whenever I didn’t know what to text, I used ChatGPT to generate text idea, but the responses often felt too generic and not human-like. Sometimes it worked, giving me some insight for me to think about what to text, but I found that even other popular AI Texting Assistant apps produced replies that were too generic and sounded odd as well. I just thought recently maybe I could make an app for any people who have the same problem as me. So at the beginning of this month I tried to build it with Llama 3 and it works pretty well as its response is quite human-like with my prompting and adjustment. You can type in your situation and receive 8 different responses with explanations each time. These explanations can help people like me understand why each text works and improve their texting skills.
