Hey I built WellRoam after paying 152€ in roaming charges on a two-week trip, the kind of bill you only notice once you're home. eSIMs solve this, but the buying experience is still weirdly bad. You land on a comparison table with 40 plans, half of them don't say whether they include a phone number, the coverage maps are marketing fiction, and you find out your device isn't compatible after paying. So WellRoam is mostly an exercise in removing steps: pick a destination, get a QR code by email, scan it, done. 190+ destinations, prepaid, no subscription. The hardest part wasn't the store, it was the data. Provider pricing and coverage change constantly, so I ended up building scrapers to track it across the market. That turned out to be the more interesting project, and some of it will end up public. Two things I'd love input on: - What's the one thing you check before buying a travel eSIM? - Does keeping your regular number active abroad actually matter to you, or is WhatsApp enough now? I keep getting both answers and I can't tell which is the majority. I'm around all day. Roast the onboarding flow, that's the part I'm least sure about.
