Hi all and thanks for checking out WEBUTILS. After working as a software and web developer for a number of different companies over 15 years I noticed many different features and pieces of functionality that were common requirements between companies. In particular I found myself implementing the same things again and again for a wide range of different websites and applications. These things not only required development time to create, but also to maintain, test and keep up to date. It occurred to me that it would be much more cost effective for these companies to use some sort of third-party service to implement these tools. But no such service existed. Fast forward a few years and I have reached a time in my life where I'm tired of selling my time for money. I want to be financially free to be able to live the life I want. (Don't we all?) I read a few books, watched a few videos and decided to take a leap of faith. Better to have tried and to have failed than to never have tried at all right? So I quit my job and started working for myself full time developing an MVP for the service that I wish existed when I was a developer. And WEBUTILS was born. Functionality is split into modules that are available through a public API and so can be easily implemented into any website or application. I have launched with one (and currently only) module, Holidays, which allows developers to programmatically access public holiday information. I chose to start with this module as it was most definitely the thing I found myself having to replicate the most for different companies and websites. Now that I have finished the website I will be actively developing new modules for the API. I would love to hear your thoughts on the website (I'm not much of a front-end dev), the concept and any ideas you may have for modules you think could be useful for you, your company or other devs alike.
