👋 Hey Product Hunters! I’m Axel, and I’m thrilled to introduce Wayther — my new iPhone app designed to keep you safe, help you minimize delays and save you money on your road trips by making you avoid bad and dangerous weather. My little app was recently featured in TechCrunch, AppAdvice and Gear Patrol. Wayther was born out of my experience working on another app, a digital boating log book. Weather plays a crucial role in boating, so I began integrating weather forecasts into trip planning. Coincidentally, while developing this feature, I had to drive a few hundred miles and wanted to dodge bad weather. I found myself constantly switching between Apple Maps and Apple Weather, manually checking conditions along my route. That’s when it hit me: there should be an app that provides weather forecasts specifically for road trips. Wayther gives you: 🌦️ Accurate real-time weather forecast along your route 📆 Up to 10 days in advance (choose departure or arrival date and time) 🌍 Anywhere in the world You can compare different routes and adjust your departure or arrival times to find the safest, most enjoyable window for your trip. It’s a powerful tool to avoid dangerous weather and unexpected delays by planning ahead with precise forecasts. The app is perfect not just for car drivers, but also for motorcyclists, RVers, truckers, bus drivers, and even bikers. Whether you need to dodge high winds, bad weather, or simply plan the best time to hit the road, Wayther has you covered. The app is free to download, and your first three trips are on completely free — no trial required. If you love the app and want unlimited trips, you can choose between a weekly, monthly or yearly subscription, depending on how often you are on the road. To celebrate this launch, I’m offering 40% off your first year with the code PH40, available until September 5th, 2024. Click here to redeem this offer. Download Wayther today, and I’d love to hear your thoughts or answer any questions—drop a comment below! This is the first version of the app, and I have many features planned. But I wanted to get it out there to see what people like, what they want, and how they use it 🙂. Thank you so much for your support! 🙏 🚀

Well done @alpennec! I've had a couple of nasty surprises in the past months, and I hope this will help prevent more!

Congrats on the launch, @alpennec ! Wayther looks like a must-have for road trips! Are there any AI features that help suggest the best times to start a journey based on weather forecasts? It would be great to know how the app leverages AI to enhance trip planning.

@riikkii_ oh that’s a nice idea for a future version of the app! Technically speaking, it should be possible but it requires a little bit of thinking to make it right because there are a lot of weather inputs for each waypoint, and they depends on the departure and arrival time. Thanks for sharing!

I always bookmark 3-4 cities in the weather app on my way from Munich to Zagreb. I always needed an app like this one. Great job Axel, I'm looking forward to trying it!
Axel Le Pennec
@damjandabo I’m happy you find the app useful! Let me know how it goes, and how accurate it is. Stay safe!

Axel your app seems pretty redundant, can't people just use Google Maps and check the weather themselves, what's the real value here, and since you talk about future features, anything in there that's worth waiting for
Axel Le Pennec
@adrienstartups hey Adrien. Thanks for your comment. I’m not sure I totally understand your point though. Have you tried the app?
