Rebuilt from the ground up as a subscription-free, local-first emergency utility. Weather Belt stands on three core pillars: 🗺️ 1. Local-First Architecture: Offline map caching and geofenced NWS alerts optimized for Apple Satellite mode. 🧠 2. Synthesized Intelligence: Cross-analyzes live data feeds and scanner patterns for tailored local threat profiles. 🔒 3. Zero-Tracking: No ads, no subscriptions, and absolute privacy. A single, honest lifetime license.

Hi Product Hunt! 👋I'm Joseph, the independent developer behind Ghost Logics.
My corporate tech career took an unexpected turn when my position was eliminated in January of this year. Instead of jumping right back into another corporate role, I decided to take a leap of faith: to go fully independent and build the kind of software I actually believe in—apps that are privacy-first, local-first, and completely subscription-free.
I built Weather Belt because I got tired of bloated weather apps that hide life-saving emergency data behind aggressive monthly paywalls, track your location 24/7, and completely fail the moment you lose cell service. With this brand-new, completely revamped version, I’ve built a robust, local-first emergency intelligence platform centered around three core pillars:
🧠 1. Synthesized Local Warnings: Instead of just regurgitating raw, generic government alerts, Weather Belt cross-analyzes incoming live data feeds and scanner patterns to synthesize highly tailored threat profiles for your exact location.
🎛️ 2. Fully Customizable & Battle-Tested: You control the exact thresholds for what triggers an alert—from extreme storm vectors down to specific local scanners. The entire engine has been hardened through real-world storm seasons to ensure rapid delivery when cellular networks are strained.
🛰️ 3. Built for the Worst Case: Engineered with local-first data architecture, off-grid radar caching, and compatibility with Apple Satellite mode, ensuring you have situational awareness even during a total grid or power failure. No ads, no subscriptions, and absolute privacy - and many customizable features. Set it up your way without ADS.
The updated version is officially live on the App Store! If you have any questions I can answer, you email me at (dev@ghostlogics.com) and I would love to hear hear your thoughts and what YOU would love to see in an app like Weather Belt. Thank you so much for the support! Let's build a safer, more resilient way to stay informed. 🌪️📻

Love that this is subscription free with no tracking, that's a rare combo these days. One thing I'd suggest is adding a widget for the home screen showing current radar loop and any active alerts at a glance, so you don't have to open the app when weather turns sketchy fast.

@ksuyak85388 Thank you so much for the comment and suggestion. This is already in the making as it really is a mandatory feature to have. The next iteration of Weather Belt will have it along with CarPlay (if Apple approves it). You can see what is in the works and what I have going on as I develop them and if you wish to be a tester (for apple currently) you can let me know at dev@ghostlogics.com. I just want to build applications that don't require subscriptions and provide ALL the main features and never charge extra. That is just now right. AND, everyone's data should remain private - and mine will never phone home with yours. Cheers. :-)

Finally an honest weather app without ads or subscriptions popping up everywhere. The offline map caching actually came in handy when I lost signal on a backroad trip last weekend, which honestly surprised me.

@sabriye668787 Good morning. I am glad that you like what this app offers. Anything I build will be sharing this philosophy - nobody should rent the apps they want and certainly should have all the premium features without paying any extra. I think that should all be included when you purchase and app - period. Thank you for the kind words. If there is anything you would love to see in an app like this one, feel free to let me know. I am always open to ideas to make my apps that much better. Have a perfect day.
You can email me directly if you prefer or here is fine. :-)
Love the no-subscription angle and the focus on offline map caching. One thing that would really help here is adding a shared family alert system, like letting me designate a couple of trusted contacts who automatically get my location and a push if an NWS warning fires for my saved zones, so loved ones know I'm safe when cell service drops.

@dvorria61198 Good afternoon. Thank you for the comment and suggestion. I will for sure tag that to be reviewed and possibly included with the next iteration which will include a widget and (if approved by Apple) CarPlay. I am always open to criticism and suggestions - it only makes the app that much better. Once again, thank you for the wonderful comment and suggestion. If you ever care to be a tester of my apps, just let me know. You can here or at (dev@ghostlogics.com).

The offline map caching actually works pretty well, picked up my location and alerts even in airplane mode on a backpacking trip last week. Privacy focus and no subscription is a nice change from the usual weather apps trying to sell me premium radar.

The offline map caching actually works on a flight over the mountains, alerts still came through when I dropped signal for a while. Really appreciate that it's a one-time purchase with no tracking nonsense.

genuinely love that you built this around offline map caching for satellite mode, that's the kind of detail most weather apps completely ignore and it's huge when you're actually in a storm area with no signal

@yaarkzlj Good afternoon. Thank you so much for the comment. The app will only get better as time goes on. I want it to me more than just a display of the weather and conditions. Thanks again and have a perfect rest of your day.
