Wave is an unofficial WhatsApp Web client for Linux. It wraps WhatsApp Web in a minimal Electron app so you get a real desktop experience: minimize to system tray, unread badge, native notifications with sound, and window size/position remembered. Built with security in mind (sandboxed, no unnecessary permissions) and with keyboard shortcuts and single-instance behavior so it feels like a native app. One-line install, AppImage, no browser tab required.

Hi Product Hunt — Srijan here.
I’ve been using WhatsApp Web in a browser tab for years and got tired of it: no tray, no badge, notifications weren’t great. So I built Wave — a minimal Electron app that runs WhatsApp Web with a proper Linux desktop experience: system tray, unread badge, native notifications, and window state remembered.
Security was important to me, so it’s sandboxed and only loads WhatsApp. Everything’s on GitHub (MIT). Would love your feedback and ideas for what to add next.
