How does it actually detect background access without draining the battery or running constantly in the foreground?

Warden doesn't run constantly in the background or drain your battery. Instead, it uses Android's built-in appops system (via Shizuku) to check permission logs — the same system Android itself uses behind the scenes. It's not a continuous scanner; it's a lightweight, on-demand checker.
Here's how it works in practice:
• It checks every 10 seconds using a tiny shell command
• It only reads the log, it doesn't keep scanning or processing in the background
• Battery impact is minimal — the FAQ in our README even says so!
• You can also set Warden's battery to "Unrestricted" for the smoothest experience
The goal is to make you aware of what's happening without sacrificing your phone's performance. So far, users have reported that they barely notice it running — until it alerts them about something suspicious.

@ogluzafer53599 Great question — Warden doesn't drain battery because it's not constantly scanning. It uses Shizuku to read Android's system logs (the same ones that show the permission dots). It only checks every 10 seconds with a lightweight command, so battery impact is minimal. Think of it like checking a logbook, not recording everything in real-time.
Love the real-time alerts for background access, exactly the kind of thing Android needs. One thing that would make it even more useful for me is a simple weekly summary view showing which apps pinged the mic or location the most, so I can quickly decide which ones to actually uninstall instead of reacting in the moment.
